About — May Liok

The outside world is chaotic at heart. A need for pause and moments of contemplation lured May Botman to the art of ceramics. With her works, she strives to instil mindfulness in her life.

The Amsterdam-based artist manifests her introspective journey into clay sculptures. Fusing bold, organic shapes with classes glazes, May Liok’s creations feel both playful and wholly abstract.

Her approach is artisanal and intuitive, resulting in a limited series of handcrafted one-off ceramics. Each work takes an average of three months to complete, from inception to execution, following eight design stages.
